RUTA OFF

RutaOff was my (formal) start in the UX/UI world, as a result of the course I took at Coderhouse.

How many times have you bought something from and then found out that you could have paid less?

THE PROBLEM WE SAW

In Uruguay most people have at least one credit and/or debit card.
Each card has many promotions, which are constantly changing.
In turn, many businesses have their own promotions, for example 25% OFF on Fridays.

All these discounts mean that most of the time the user misses out on them due to lack of knowledge, even if he/she has the possibility of accessing them.

THE SOLUTION PROPOSED

Develop an application where ALL the discounts of the market can be found, showing them in a clear and ordered way.
The main function of the application will be the FILTER. The idea is that the person can filter the results according to their needs, for example Discounts according to the day, according to the card or according to the category (gastronomy, pharmacy, etc). And at the same time combine filters, such as Monday + Visa Card + Clothing.

THE BEGINNING OF THE PROCESS

The methodology used was Design Thinking, where we went through all its stages searching for information and drawing conclusions to make different decisions.

BENCHMARKING

We analyze the most similar apps on the market

MVP

These are the features that will be available in the Release version.

USER PERSONA

We define who our users are going to be.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

A card sorting exercise was carried out to define the different categories and their hierarchies.

And based on the information obtained we were able to establish our Information Architecture for the app.

USABILTY TEST

EVOLUTION OF WIREFRAMES

Little by little the idea took shape, evolving from a hand sketch to a digital wireframe.

THE END OF THE BEGINNING

We design a UI Kit, a set of graphic elements prepared for use in the design of user interfaces (UI) of applications and websites, among other systems that require a graphical interface.

We also designed a moodboard, a visual board containing different aesthetic elements that allows us to define the visual climate of our project and helps to identify the theme and visual spirit of an idea.

THE FINAL RESULT

After many iterations, we reached the final design, with a working prototype that gathers the main functionalities of the App.

LESSONS LEARNED

RutaOff was my first “formal” project in the UX/UI world, and the first lesson (or conclusion) it left me with was to confirm that this is the path I want to follow, designing digital products and thus working in Experience Design.

On the other hand, I was able to learn about research and methodologies, and the importance of always working with the user at the center.

Although this project was part of a course and was an individual work, I was able to confirm that working in a team (and if they are multidisciplinary teams better), is the way I feel more comfortable and where the best results are seen.
